2015.05.27-28 Kherson delegation headed by the President of the Kherson CCI has visited Tehran, Iran

Keep on searching for ways to enter new markets and exploring opportunities to export to the countries of Middle East, the Kherson Chamber of Commerce and Industry has organized a visit of the Kherson delegation to Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran.

The delegation was headed by the President of Kherson CCI Viktoria Ostroumova. A member of the KCCI Board, General director of "Mechanical plant", LLC, Advisor to the Kherson region Governor Mr. Stanislav Putilov and the head of Technical regulation Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine Mr. Pavlo Masjukov joined the delegation.

The leadership of the Ukrainian Chamber and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Ukraine Mr. Mohammad Beheshti Monfared have recently discussed the importance and timeliness to enhance cooperation with Iran. The Ukrainian-Iranian Business Council, which has resumed its activity, will give special attention to directions and fields of cooperation, indicated during the meeting. This will contribute to the development of interregional ties.

Iran is important for Ukraine, primarily its own economic potential and prospects of investment cooperation and opportunities for development of joint activities in agricultural, energy and transport sectors. The program of the visit to Teheran was drawn up respectively. It comprised participation in the Business Summit and B2B meetings, visit to the International Agricultural Exhibition and a number of meetings, scheduled separately.

On May 27, in the framework of the 22nd International Agricultural Trade Fair, Business Summit took place with the participation of Iranian and Turkish businessmen. During the official part, the President of the Kherson CCI Viktoria Ostroumova presented Kherson region, focusing on its present economic and investment potential. The members of the delegation had an opportunity to participate in direct negotiations with the Iranian and Turkish companies-participants of the Summit. The afternoon was devoted to a review of pavilions of the International Agricultural Exhibition and Exhibition of food and drinks.

On May 28, according to the results of work during the Summit there were meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Association of Agricultural Cooperatives, and Ministry of Industry, Trade and Mine of Iran, the management of Free Economic Zone. A visit to the General Secretariat of the Ukrainian-Iranian Business Council was organized in association with the Embassy of Ukraine to Iran. Iranian businessmen showed the interest in cooperation in agriculture (import of Ukrainian agricultural products in particular grain, oilseeds, vegetable oil, rent of land for crops growing and exporting to Iran),  supplying the products of the petrochemical industry, in transport sector. The head of the Council on the Iranian part Ms. Sabine Abai invited the guests to Iran again and offered to arrange the visits of particular Iranian companies.

At the Ukrainian Embassy in Iran, Chargé d'affaires of Ukraine Mr. Sergey Krasnoshapka and the Second Secretary for Economic Affairs, Mr. Artem Voytehin presented current cooperation between Ukraine and Iran, provided information on legal requirements for export and import of goods to Iran, particularities of working in a free economic zone. For the development of interregional cooperation it was suggested Fars province with its administrative center Shiraz to explore as a partner.

The obtained materials are now being studied by the experts of the Kherson CCI together with the related departments of the Kherson regional state administration to determine further steps for the development of cooperation with Iran. Kherson Chamber of Commerce and Industry is ready to provide any assistance to regional entrepreneurs who are interested in working there, have concrete suggestions or need additional information.
