Seminar on Energy Efficiency and Cleaner Production in Kiev

In a joint effort with Reinertsen AS and Friends of the Earth, Norway Tekna arranged a seminar on Energy Efficiency and Cleaner Production in Kiev on September, 9. The seminar was opened by Norway's ambassador to Ukraine, Olav Berstad.

During the seminar more than 20 presentations were given in the fields of energy efficiency and environmental improvement in the building sector; cleaner production, energy efficiency and environmental improvement in the industrial sector; capacity building in environmental NGOs.

The participants counted 130 and represented both the authorities as well as the users. They stayed through the day and raised a number of interesting questions.

The seminar was very successful, the practical arrangements taken care of by TEKNA'S partner, the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Working meeting in Dnipropetrovsk

On September, 7 – 8 TEKNA held meetings with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Dnipropetrovsk. The city lies in the eastern and heavily industrialized part of Ukraine where mining, metallurgical and heavy mechanical workshops form the backbone of the economy. In addition they have a sector of advanced IT-type industry.

During the meeting an Agreement of cooperation was signed. Following the agreement the Chamber now is planning the start up of a Cleaner Production program in the region, second week of November. During the meeting TEKNA also got an opportunity to meet with and present its work for a number of representatives from the regional state administration and the Dnipropetrovsk municipal council.
