During visiting the city of Smolensk (Russian Federation), the delegation headed by the President of the Kherson CCI Victoria Ostroumova held talks on further cooperation with Natalya Zvereva, the Deputy Mayor, Olga Chernova, head of the Culture Department, Nikolay Mazhar, Chancellor of the Smolensk State University, Evgeniy Kodin, Chancellor of the Smolensk Humanitarian University and Sergey Kartoshkin, Head of Main Administration for Youth of the Smolensk region, Alexander Kochergin, Director of the National Park “Smolenskoe Poozerie”, Vladimir Borovchenko, Head of Economics Administration of the Regional Administration, Sergey Kudryavtsev, Head of  Foreign Affairs of Region Administration, Alexander Gutkin , Director of the Resort Complex "Smena", the Heads of  the Smolensk CCI Departments etc.

The aim of the negotiations was a preparation of  issues on certain directions of cooperation, as well as work on the materials of the project of  Agreement between two regions, strategic partners, bound by the great Slavic river.
The distance between  the Dnieper river head  in the Smolensk region and its delta in the Kherson region is  2000 km of main riverbed and its banks. Association of CCI of the Dnieper region, established on initiative of Smolensk and Kherson, aims to strengthen economic, cultural and environmental cooperation.
Therefore, one of the most important issues during the meeting of international working group was the preparation to the II International Environmental Forum "Clean City. Clean River. Clean Planet ", which will take place in Kherson on the18th-19th of November,  2010.

It was decided  to hold during the  international forum a meeting of Potemkin Society and a number of  working groups sittings, aimed at the economic interaction of regions, inter-university cooperation, youth projects, directors of nature reserves etc.
During the stay in Smolensk a variety of entertainment was organized for visitors of the city. One of them was a great holiday - “Fish Soup Day. " True lovers of nature and fish soup could not miss such an important event which took place outdoors.
