2010.07.01-03 the visit to St. Petersburg
Working up the 2-nd International Ecologictal Forum "Clean City. Clean
River. Clean Planet", Kherson Chamber of Commerce and Industry is extensively
involved in environmental problems of urban life. One of the key aspects in
this area is the problem of water supply and water disposal, which has been
included in the program of the Forum as a separate research/practice workshop.
To explore the experience of solving problems in the municipal water supply and usage of advanced technologies Kherson CCI organized the visit of Kherson delegation to St. Petersburg.
The Kherson Mayor Vladimir Saldo, together with the Deputy Director of CME "Kherson City Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant" Andrei Predeyn visited St. Petersburg Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and got acquainted with its technical capabilities of water supply, water treatment, wastewater removing and servicing the whole of this complex.

St. Petersburg WWTP is the one of the main post-Soviet enterprises on technologies, projecting and performance quality. The experience of this company is interesting primarily in technologies of projection and exploitation of the of water supply and disposal system. St. Petersburg WWTP is a young company, built just in 1978. The St. Petersburg water supply system operates in such a way that water for consumption is taken directly from the Neva River, has a multi-stage purification and special preparation technology.

In addition, the St. Petersburg practice is interesting in terms of engineering design. Repair works on the municipal systems of water supply and water disposal are carried out without damaging the asphalt surface, because advanced technologies don't require large-scale earthworks.

Kherson Chamber of Commerce and Industry is considering a possibility for Kherson experts to learn the experience of other Russian and Ukrainian water and wastewater treatment plants.
Besides visiting the St. Petersburg WWTP, Kherson delegation held business meetings at the Ukrainian Embassy in Saint Petersburg and at the St. Petersburg Government. At these meetings the Kherson Mayor Vladimir Saldo and KCCI President Victoria Ostroumova discussed the possibility of extending trade-economic and cultural cooperation between Kherson and St. Petersburg.
