The expedition was organized together with the Regional South-Dnieper Branch of the State ecological Academy and was aimed at the environmental investigations of the Dnieper river basin in lower reaches of the river. There were held hydrological measurements of levels in the different Dnieper delta water bodies and also in Golubevo, Kardashinka, Kalanchak firths. Following the results of conducted work there were achieved some agreements of the continual bilateral research cooperation in order to start the development of a strategic programme of the Lower Dnieper – Dnieper-Bug firth's monitoring. The development of the monitoring’s programme will give an option of reviving the ecosystem of the Dnieper lower reaches and firths.

The work of young researchers was held under the direction of experienced scientists: professor, well-known specialist in the field of geography and geology Mr. Viktor Trushevskiy, and professor, specialist in the field of hydroecology and aquaculture Mr. Yuriy Pilinenko. Both scientists are the members of an organizing committee of the International Ecological Forum “Clean City. Clean River. Clean Planet”, created by the Kherson CCI.

The participants of expedition also visited the Kherson Chamber of Commerce and Industry and met the moderators of Forum's workshops. Within these workshops preservation and enhancement of the Dnieper river basin would be discussed.
