2014.10.29- The All-Ukrainian book-plate contest in memoriam of Felix Kider

 The goal of the contest is to awake the students’ interest to book-plate and traditional classical technical skills of printmaking. 

The contest results were summed up by the competent judges, including Prof. Chupryna Vladimir – nationally-acknowledged artist, Chairman of the Kherson Region Branch of the National Theatre-Workers Union; PhD Ostroumova Victoria – President of the Kherson Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Prof. Chepeliuk Elena – Head of the Design Department, KNTU; Grin’ Dmitriy – Director of “OLDI-PLUS” publishing office; Kal’chenko Oleg – General Director of “TIMEX”; Miroshnikov Alexey – member of the Ukrainian Designers Union, Chairman of the Kherson Department of the Ukrainian Advertisers Union, Creative Director of GRADES; Vitaliy Kryzhanovskyy – Chairman of the Kherson Regional Branch of Ukrainian Designing Union; Dyachenko Vlada – Fine Art Expert, Deputy Director of Research Kherson Regional Museum named after Shovkunenko; Afanasiev Maxim - Art-Director of the Center of Youth Initiatives TOTEM. The jury was headed by Bardachov Yuriy, Professor, and Rector of the Kherson National Technical University and by Alexandr Kniga - Honored Artist, member of the National Theatre Workers’ Union, General Director, Artist Managing Director of the Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theatre.

The nominations of the competition and the winners:

1) The traditional book-plate (book-plate fulfilled in the manner of traditional printmaking - etching, linocut, xylography etc.)
The first award – Osudar Ol’ga ( Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, Art Institute from Ivano-Frankivsk); the second award – Miroshnichenko Maryana (Ukrainian Academy of Printing in Lviv) and Martiukova Alexandra (KNTU in Kherson); the third award – Babiy Anastasia(Kyiv State Institute of Decorative and Applied Art and Design named after M. Boychuk)
2) The computer book-plate (book-plate fulfilled in vector graphics)
The first award – Deykoun Anastasia (the Kherson State University); the second award – Vinogradova Maria (the Academe of Design and Arts, Kharkov); the third award – Ohrimenko Elizaveta ( the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design) and Berezina Victoria (the KNTU in Kherson).
3) The Memorial book-plate (book-plate – the dedication to an outstanding person)
The first award – Karpenko Anastasia (the KNTU in Kherson); the second award – Zhul Ol’ga (the Lutsk National Technical University); the third award– Fedorenko Alina (the Cherkasy State Technological University)
4) Experimental book-plate (the book-plate fulfilled in experimental author's technique, which demonstrates a new vision of the genre of the book-plate)
The second award – Breslavets Valeria (the Kherson Tauride Lyceum of Arts); the third award – Yaniuk Yulia (the Lutsk National Technical University).
5) The book-plate devoted to Taras Shevchenko (the book-plate fulfilled in free manner, devoted to the outstanding Ukrainian artist, poet, novelist, ethnographer) – the prize nomination, established by the Rector of the KNTU Bardachev Yuriy. The first – Partsey Oksana, the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, the Art Institute in Ivano-Frankivsk; the second – Zavadskaya Ekaterina (the KNTU in Kherson); the third – Poperechna Irina (the Kherson Tauride Lyceum of Arts)
The winners got financial awards, diplomas and certificates. Bardachov Yuriy congratulated all the participants and gave the winners not only testimonials but also valuable gifts - Felix Kider ‘s book-plates from his personal collection.

The Kherson CCI is a co-organizer of the Book-plate Contest. The Chamber has founded a nomination connected with outstanding personalities of our Region. This year – it is “The book-plate devoted to John Howard, English philanthropist and benefactor, who took part in the elimination of typhus epidemic in Kherson in 1789”. Bondarenko Alexandr, student of Cherkasy State University, became the winner. Semenova Victoria (the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv National Technical University) got the second prize. The third place was awarded to Reznik Anastasia (KNTU in Kherson). The Vice-President of the Kherson CCI Kocherzhenko Sergey congratulated all the winners presented them with certificates and declared the topic of next contest:” The book-plate devoted to Ukrainian writer, humorist and satirist Ostap Vyshnya, whose activity was closely connected with Kherson”.
