On the 8th of October in the Kherson CCI there was a meeting the Turkish Delegation with the President of the Kherson CCI Victoria Ostroumova and member of the Chamber Council Stanislav Putilov. The staff of the Kherson Chamber – the Head of International Cooperation Centre Larissa Ponomarenko, Advisor of the President of the Kherson CCI Vyacheslav Zhelezniy - and the representatives of the Turkish diaspora in Kherson also took part in the meeting.

Turkey, due to historical factors and close geographic location, traditionally is  trade partner of Kherson Region. Among the cities, which have cultural and economical relations with Kherson, basically those, which located in the northern part of Turkey: the Black Sea ports Zonguldak, Trabzon, Samsun, also the port on the Marmara Sea Tekirdag and the Bursa. Zonguldak is also a twin town of Kherson.

This time the Turkish Delegation, composed of Mr. Sabagatin Kilich and representative of the company “Koltarim” (Tarsus), Mr. Erkan Kolukirikoulu, presented south of Turkey – the province Mersin.

Mersin is a city, which located on the south-west coast of Turkey (Mediterranean Sea), in which more then 600 thousand inhabitants live and is administrative Centre of the province Mersin. This province has an ancient and rich history (began to be settled since 7 millennium BC), and is mentioned by many ancient writers. In the days of the Ancient Greece it served as "main gate" of Cilicia.

Today, in the region of Mersin, there is a free trade zone, where refining, chemical, textile, and light industry enterprises are working. On the east of the province cotton is being grown.

The important for economic development is the fact that the center of the region is the largest port of Mersin. In 2013 Turkey got a credit from European Reconstruction and Development Bank to the amount of 79,5 million $ US for infrastructure project creating in the port , realization of which let the port facilities to accept larger vessels and in the long term to increase its capacity.

Also the travel field is actively developing, and among the leading investment projects is the construction of the city airport.

During their visit the Turkish businessmen hold a meeting with leadership of the Kherson Region and Kherson city, and also examined several enterprises of transport field and agricultural branch. On the Turkish side there is an interest to import of agricultural production and lamb from the Kherson Region.
