On September 14-15, the delegation of the Kherson region visited Gomel region of the Republic of Belarus. The delegation included representatives of the Kherson Regional State Administration headed by Governor Andriy Gordeyev, President of the Kherson Chamber of Commerce and Industry Viktoria Ostroumova, as well as heads of enterprises from various sectors of economy.

During two days, the Kherson delegation held business meetings in the FEZ "Gomel-Raton" and OJSC "Gomel Technopark", as well as visited a number of enterprises in the city of Gomel and Mozyrskiy District.

On September 14, at the Gomel-Raton Free Economic Zone, a meeting was held with the head of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee Volodymyr Dvornik who emphasized that Gomel is primarily an industrial region that actively attracts investors through the preferences of a free economic zone and a technopark. The Gomel-Raton FEZ employs capital from 16 countries of the world, and exports to more than 30 countries.

Also, on September 14, at the Free Economic Zone, negotiations with the representatives of Belarusian companies were organized in the format of B2B for the members of the Kherson delegation jointly organized by the Gomel branch of the Belarus CCI and the Kherson CCI.

Among the issues discussed by officials and business representatives during a two-day visit were deliveries of Kherson products, joint ventures, cooperation on the development of navigation on the Dnieper and establishing air links between two regions.

In addition, the delegation got acquainted with the work of some Belarusian enterprises. Among them are CPSU "Gomel-obldorstroy", OJSC "Gomel Chemical Plant", Joint-Stock Company "Spartak", OJSC "Mozyr Oil Refinery", State Farm-Plant "Zorya" and others.

In particular, the mutual interest of the parties in joint production creation of agricultural machinery in Ukraine was announced at OJSC "Gomselmash".

The Belarusian side has repeatedly emphasized its readiness to develop contacts at the interregional level. It should be noted that the trade turnover between the Gomel and Kherson regions during the period January-July 2017 amounted to 1436.6 thousand dollars. However, mutual deliveries of products can increase significantly on condition of profitable use of advantageous logistical advantages of both regions, for which it is necessary to develop joint waterways use. The prospects for such cooperation were discussed at a meeting in the Mozyr River Port.

For several years, CJSC “Beltop-Energo” has been implementing a project for the construction of a port terminal near the settlement of Nizhny Zhary, capable of receiving river-sea vessels, as well as the organization of uninterrupted transportation from the ports of the Black, Mediterranean, Caspian Seas and Danubian states.
