In order to deepen Ukrainian-Iranian interregional cooperation, the delegation from Iran, which included representatives of the “Jahad-E-Sabz” Co., businessmen from the Exporters Association at the Isfahan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tehran businessmen, visited the southern regions of Ukraine.

Under the visit program in the period of April 16 to April 20, Iranian businessmen had the opportunity to conduct business talks on the basis of the Ukrainian-Iranian CCI, to visit farms and several infrastructure facilities. 

On April 18 Viktoria Ostroumova, President of the Kherson CCI, Head of the Center for International Cooperation Larysa Ponomarenko and President's Assistant Vyacheslav Zhelezniy met leaders of several Iranian companies and the Head of the Ukrainian-Iranian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abbas Hashemi. The main areas of possible cooperation that were discussed with the Iranian side during the meeting were the export of Ukrainian agricultural products (cereals, fodder corn, barley, soybeans, soybean meal, bran, bard), joint cultivation of grain crops in the Odessa and Kherson regions within the framework of the Iranian state programs of extraterritorial agriculture; import to Ukraine of certain types of building materials. 

Taking into account the existing fairly high meat consumption per capita in Iran, which amounts currently to 70-80 kg per year, and its expected growth in the future, it may be reasonable to grow sheep jointly in the southern regions of Ukraine to further supply lamb to Iran. 

A separate issue was the discussion of opportunities for cooperation in the field of international freight traffic from Odessa and Kherson ports. 

During the meetings, certain agreements were reached concerning next visit of Iranian companies representatives interested in cooperation in the field of agriculture, including livestock breeding, in the second half of July, so that they could take part in the work of the large-scale exhibition Agroport-Kherson 2018.
