2011.11.17-18 – the 3rd International Ecological Forum "Clean City. Clean River. Clean Planet".

Along with traditional round tables "The Dnieper River Basin Saving and Improving – International Viewpoint " and "Environmental Education and Environmental Consciousness Formation", a separate section was dedicated to the topical questions of Kherson region: environmental problems of agriculture and environmentally oriented businesses in the agricultural sector.

 A round table "Ecology of Urban Living" gathered representatives of the administration, businesses and community organizations in order to discuss topical issues of urban ecology, to sum up already realized projects and to schedule further joint activities to improve the environmental situation in the city. The question of water consumption, so important for Kherson, was discussed thoroughly through participation of representatives of the Russian association of water supply and sewerage.

The round table "Ecology and Culture" became an important event of the 3rd International Ecological Forum, because synergies between ecology and culture, harmonization of relationships between human and society, society and nature were discussed there for the first time.

The Forum program provided some events besides practical sections. Thus, on November 18 there was held the scientific-practical conference concerned to the project of sheep breeding revival in Kherson region "Golden Fleece of Tavria". On the same day the participants of joint Ukrainian-Norwegian training programme for industrial and municipal enterprises "Cleaner Production and Energy Efficiency" presented their own energy-efficient projects.

The Forum was followed by the exhibition "Water resources of Kherson region", video presentation on environmental issues from the Kherson Center of Youth Initiatives "Totem", exhibition of works by students of the Design Lyceum and junior schools.

There was also competition of installations "A Butterfly – Amazing, Diverse and Fragile as Our Planet" attended by students of four Kherson universities: The Kherson National Technical University, The Kherson State Agricultural University, The Kherson State University and The Kherson Regional design academic department of the National Academy of Government Managerial Staff of Culture and Arts.

The 3rd International Ecological Forum "Clean City. Clean River. Clean Planet" gathered over 400 participants from different cities of Ukraine, from Russia, Norway, Canada and Sweden: NASU and NAASU academicians, 29 professors and doctors, 31 candidates of science, heads of departments of state administrations, mayors, heads of administrations, directors of industrial and agricultural enterprises, representatives of youth environmental corps, students and schoolchildren.

Members and guests expressed their desire to give sight of Forum's ideas and resolution to widest range of international community and direct their efforts at natural resources preservation, regeneration of natural environment for the establishment of environmental well-being of their regions.

Creating conditions for constructive dialogue between representatives of the diplomatic corps, science, government and business, scientific component of Ekoforum makes this event a kind of " a pilot ground" for implementing public-private schemes of partnership. The cooperation of international environmental institutions, state and local governments, non-government organizations and business community in the form of live communication provides search of new capabilities for solving environmental problems in industry, agriculture, public utilities, city planning, culture and education.

The next, the 4th International Ecological Forum "Clean City. Clean River. Clean Planet" will be held on 13-14 of September 2012.
