2010.12.15 – 1st All-Ukrainian bookplate student competition in memory of Felix Kider

Kherson State Technical University and the Kherson Chamber of Commerce and Industry have for many years been known for their mutually warm and friendly relations. Joint organization of different events, creation of basis for students’ practical training, joint creative activity etc. – these are the main directions of cooperation between KSTU and the Kherson CCI.

Therefore, the CCI could not but visit the First All-Ukrainian bookplate student competition in memory of ex-libris master, Honoured Artist of Ukraine Mr. Felix Kider.  

The opening ceremony of the exhibition and awarding the winners was held on December, 15 in the Exhibition Hall of the Design Department, the Kherson State Technical University. Teachers, students, guests from other educational institutions and media representatives gathered to learn about the artistic legacy of the Kherson youth as well as about student works sent from Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Odesa, Khmelnitsky and Kosiv.

President of the Kherson CCI Mrs. Viktoriya Ostroumova, who was invited to join the event, congratulated the participants of the competition and thanked the Design Department, Head of the Department Prof. Olena Chepelyuk and all the teachers for the long-term cooperation. She emphasized the creative approach and enthusiasm typical of their works and wished everyone good luck.

Awards were given in two categories: “Traditional ex-libris”, i.e. the bookplate created in a traditional graphics technique, and “Computer ex-libris”, made within vector graphics programs. Honourable jury, headed by Honoured Artist of Ukraine, Head of the Design Department of the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts, Prof. Olexander Boychuk, defined the winners.

The first prize in the “Traditional ex-libris” category was taken by Ja. Lozinska, student of the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynsky (Odesa), supervisor – Senior Lecturer Mr. I. Oros.

The first prize in the “Computer ex-libris” category was awarded to Ms. Elena Maksimenko, student of the Kherson State Technical University (Kherson), supervisor – Associate Professor Mr. Vitaly Kryzhanovsky.
